Making words

We are great at making new words with the letter e in the middle!

Literacy and numeracy activities

We had fun with some new literacy and numeracy activity sheets.

 We played dice addition (we threw two dice, wrote the sum and added the spots)

 We used CVC cards to make as many words as we could

 We used a flip book to make as many words as we could.

 We had addition races, which were fun too.

Senior Infant Literacy Activities

We each played literacy games today.

One group made CVC words, one group practised reading phonetically regular words, one table played a game with opposites, one group read and matched words and pictures and one group played the game Hedbanz.  We all had a lot of fun while we practised our literacy skills.

Letters from Hansel and Gretel

We love the story of Hansel & Gretel which we are doing as our Irish drama at the moment.

Today we pretended to be the children lost and frightened in the woods.

We used our writing skills to write a letter to Daddy to explain all............

Reporting

We sent reporters to find out about Hansel and Gretel's adventure in the woods.

We heard about their feelings and their emotions in the woods.

This was very interesting.

Writing to our friends in Israel

We are writing letters to our friends in Israel.

We also made them little flags.

We will post them to Israel in time for St. Patrick's Day.

Story sequencing

We know the story of Hansel & Gretel really well since we are doing this play for the Féile Scoildrámaíochta (Irish Drama Plays) on the week of February 10th-14th.

Today we lined up the pictures of the story on a story line.  

We even added numbers so it looked like a number/story line.

We were able to tell all the events of the story in the right order.
