Note from the library

Library visit

We were very lucky to be able to go to Ballybane Library last week. We got to meet author Carmel Ui Cheallaigh and listen to her as she read from some of her books. She also gave us some lovely colouring pages to take with us.

The summer reading buzz

Ballybane library are running a super summer reading programme called the summer reading buzz.
Today we dressed up as bees and we visited the library to learn all about it.
We had a wonderful time at the library.
We got all the information we were hoping for, we heard a super story called "The huge bag of worries", we read books, played with toys, did jigsaws, coloured some pages and chatted to the lovely librarians.  They were sooo nice to us.
On our way home we ran through the field and we had a little picnic of bees (yes, bees! .....ones made of white chocolate and jellies that Una the librarian had made especially for us.)
Thank you Una, Siobhán and Robbie for beeing so nice to us today.
We really look forward to reading lots of books over the summer holidays.

Library summer reading challenge

We made lovely bees in art yesterday and today.
We painted toilet rolls, added wings and antennae and made a headband each to hold our bees.
We will bring our bees with us when we visit the public library because this year the theme for the summer reading programme is:
Reading Buzz!
We will take our bees up to learn all about the summer reading programme.

Letters from Daedalus and Icarus

We know the story of Daedalus and Icarus.
We pretended that we were Daedauls or Icarus and we wrote a letter home explaining what was happening.  Here are our letters home.

Intensive Literacy Learning programme

Every day for this fortnight we are taking part in the Intensive Literacy Learning programme.
Each day extra teachers come to our class for 30 minutes.
We break up into groups of 4-6 and we read a new book a day, we re-read the book we had last night, we work with magnetic numbers, we write sentences and we play literacy boxed games or literacy activities on the iPad.
We are really enjoying all the extra fun activities and our reading is really improving.
A big Thank You to Ms. Linanne, Ms. Kearney, Ms. Groarke and Ms. Flannery who have been helping us each day.

After working on the story of 'The Three Little Pigs', we sequenced the events pictorially.
We also wrote about 'The Three Little Pigs'. We are working very hard and we always try our best to do neat writing. Teacher is very proud of us.

Book fair in our school

It is world book day/week.
We are having a book fair in our school.
We can buy lovely books here, or exchange books for the token that teacher gave each of us today.
Here we are visiting the book fair and taking a look at all the wonderful books.
